Cryptocurrency exchange platform OKX has been announced as Manchester City’s new training kit sponsor.

This summer, the club announced OKX as their first “official cryptocurrency exchange partner” in a multi-million pound deal, and have moved to strengthen the relationship. OKX have invested another seven-figure sum to appear on the training kit for the men’s and the women’s teams for the 2022/23 campaign, as well as sponsoring the club’s trophy tour.

OKX have commissioned murals of Erling Haaland, Joao Cancelo, Jack Grealish and John Stones across four locations in Manchester as part of the deal. Each mural will hold a QR code for fans to scan for a chance to win a season ticket in the sponsor’s hospitality box.

Uneasiness and uncertainty remains around football clubs getting involved in cryptocurrency as the sector is still unregulated, with their markets having to significantly decline this year.

Both sides are open to further deals if they continue to be happy with their partnership.

“We are pleased to expand our relationship with OKX today as they become the official training kit partner of Manchester City,” said Roel de Vries, chief operating officer at City Football Group. “OKX and Man City are aligned on values such as innovation and success and for both parties, everything starts with training and education.

“Since the initial partnership began in March 2022, we have worked together to ‘supercharge the fan experience’ through a number of exciting content activations ahead of high profile fixtures during the culmination of the 2021/22 season and we look forward to continuing to develop these opportunities over the coming year.”
